  • Lead Pastor

Darrick is a native of Buffalo, NY. He married his high-school sweetheart (Jodi George) after his third year at Daemen College where he played on a basketball scholarship. In late 2009 he returned to Western New York after he and his family felt God leading them to start theWELLbuffalo. Darrick is a musician, teacher, friend and a fierce competitor. His teaching style is honest, raw and from the heart.  Darrick and Jodi have a soft spot for the fatherless and broken hearted and extend this into a passion for foster care. Along with occasional foster child, they also have a few of their own. Sam, their 21yr. old, is a college junior and loves to drain an occasional three pointer or throw a touchdown pass. Savannah, is 18yrs. old, and in the 12th grade, and besides being really serious about her school work, she finds time to lead worship, babysit, and play lacrosse. Issac is our Haitian-born 13 yr old and is in the 7th grade. His smile will light up anyone’s day. Everyone knows Isaac, because he's unforgettable. Then there is Chari. She's our 4 yr old, just starting pre-school, and always keeps us on our toes. She's full of spirit and full of grace. Lastly, (for now) theres Korey.  He’s our 2 year old and the center of most of our attention. He loves roaring, boxing, sports and Spiderman!

  • Executive Design Pastor

Mark and his wife Joy moved from Nashville, TN to help launch and serve at theWELLbuffalo in June 2010. This was a homecoming for Joy and it wasn't long before Mark was interning at theWELLbuffalo and taking on the launch of Journey Groups (small group communities). After a year of being bi-vocational Mark came on full time at theWELLbuffalo and took on the title of Community Designer, which oversees Journey Groups and our student community called theWELLstudents. "I always told Joy that I would never go into the ministry and never move to Buffalo, NY. I laugh now thinking I am in control," says Mark. "I love how God is teaching us to serve and love well in this community. Relationships are messy but we need each other to discover and grow closer to God. I am so thankful for theWELLbuffalo community."

Mark and Joy have a son Stryder who is 7, daughter Atalya who just turned 4 and their youngest daughter Evelia who was born this year.

  • Worship Design Pastor

Corey and his wife Marisabel are both Western NY natives who grew up in the West Side of Buffalo. They were married here at theWELLbuffalo in late 2014 and have two beautiful children, 3 yr old Adeline and their youngest Finn, who was born this passed October. Corey learned at an early age the importance of valuing community and friendship and the realities of hardship many people face here in WNY. In 2007, Corey formed the band Elmwood Drive which has become a premier worship band in WNY sharing the stage with some major acts, as well as, touring the Eastern U.S and recording some  studio albums. Corey came to theWELLbuffalo in late 2013 after serving on staff at a church in Batavia, NY as the worship/media arts director. His passion for art, design, and music makes him a perfect fit for the atmosphere we desire here at theWELLbuffalo. Corey prefers to lead from a stand point of humility but is bold in his expression of love towards our Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ.

  • Family Design Pastor

Ben is one of our newest hires here at theWELLbuffalo. He comes by way of South Florida and is still getting accustomed to the cold weather up North. He’s a Florida State University graduate where he played baseball at the collegiate level. Ben graduated and married his high school sweetheart Julie. They have 3 kids, Trent who’s a 3 year old ball of energy that loves cars and sports, Levi their 2 year old, who is always on the heels of his older brother and the youngest of the clan, Gabriel, who was born this passed October. Ben planned on pursuing a coaching career after college where he could impact kids for the gospel but he soon realized God had a different plan for him. Ben and Julie moved to South Georgia for a few years while he taught and coached at a small school in the town of Arlington. It was also during this time that he had an opportunity to lead worship for a church plant there as well. Eventually they found themselves moving back to Florida to be closer to family and recoup as Ben began to feel the call of God on his life for full-time student ministry. It was at this point that the opportunity to come to theWELLbuffalo opened up and Ben and Julie jumped in feet first. They might miss the sun and sand of South Florida but its all worth it to have the chance to impact student lives with the gospel.

Worship LEaders

Media Team

theWELLbuffalo consists of many, many, volunteers and those who serve continually each week, day in and day out. Below is a list of a few of the people who help guide our worship and media experience on Sunday mornings.

  • Bethany Fonda

    Campus Worship Leader

Bethany has called Buffalo, NY home for most of her life. Two years ago she found theWELLbuffalo and connected with the people and rhythms of theWELLbuffalo. As she started getting more involved with the worship team she was encouraged to take more of a leadership role. She has grown up in music ministry as her parents were very involved in the church and music since she was a child. Bethany has always had a heart for worship and ministry both inside the church building and outside its walls. Her heart is also burdened for people to see their significance, value and purpose through a relationship with their Creator. This is expressed in her desire to educate, counsel, serve and encourage other people. When she is not leading worship she is teaching high school refugee students in the city of Buffalo during the work week. As one of the worship leaders at theWELLbuffalo she hopes to create an environment where people feel the presence of the Lord and are open to both hear His voice and act as a result of His love.
